WELL, IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR WHEN WE REFLECT on successes and misses from last year. Hopefully, your personal and professional successes outnumbered your misses. I am still working on my 2023 totals for each. At this time of the year, we also identify our goals and ambitions for the new year. We can all likely predict most — if not all — of the top five New Year’s resolutions for Americans. We can expect that weight loss will continue as a favorite resolution. Will people manage to stick with it for meaningful results? That remains to be seen.
A closely related resolution that many of us predict will make the top five is to eat a healthier diet. We may also predict that improved fitness will make the top five. In fact, according to Forbes Health, 48% of adults surveyed indicated that their goal was to improve their fitness. Possibly as a sign of the times, 38% indicated that they planned to improve their finances in 2024. In a close third place, 36% responded that their goal was to improve their mental health. I was somewhat surprised to see that weight loss was fourth, with 34% of respondents identifying this resolution. Related, eating a healthier diet rounded out the top five for 2024, with 32% identifying this as their 2024 resolution.
